World water day The theme of World Water Day 2024 is “Water for Peace”. Organized by the UN in response to the worsening effects of climate change, the day aims to raise awareness among governments of the need for cooperation in the water sector.
The International Lions Clubs, which works to improve the lives of people around the world, is deeply involved in environmental issues, particularly those related to water. Lions Club International works to ensure access to safe drinking water and adequate sanitation for all, which promotes health throughout the world.
Access to water is essential for the survival of many villages and the development of their inhabitants. That’s why, as a young president of Club Pointe Noire in the early 1980s, I was lucky enough to supervise a project to provide access to drinking water in the village of Doualla in the Congo.
